FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics Team from Saratoga, CA

Team 20373 RMS Chimera is a competitive FTC robotics team from Saratoga. We are group of 8 students from Redwood Middle School. We have 2 6th graders, 2 7th graders and four 8th graders on our team. Volunteers started the FTC program at our school in 2021 and we are one of 4 teams. We enjoy spending multiple hours designing, prototyping, fabricating, and programming a robot to achieve the tasks outlined in the FTC competition.

We work as a team based on our core values - Gracious Professionalism, Enthusiasm, and Perseverance

TEAM ACHIEVEMENTS:

2025-26 - 1st place Design award, 5th place in league

2023-24 (our Third Season) - 1st place Connect award (Fresno QT), Judges choice award(Santa Clara QT), 1st place Design Award (Saratoga QT)

2022-23 (our Second Season) - Judges Choice Award and Winning Team Alliance 2nd Pick (Saratoga QT), 1st place Design Award, Finalist Captain, 3rd place Motivate Award, 3rd place Innovate Award (Roseville QT), Qualified for NorCal Regionals

2021-22 (our First Season) - 2 Judges Choice Awards (NorCal Regional and Sunnyvale QT), Finalist Captain (San Jose QT), NorCal Regional Quarter Finalist captain

Gracious Professionalism

Gracious professionalism is important to our team because it encourages high-quality work, emphasizes the value of others, and respects individuals and the community. Gracious professionals learn and compete rigorously but treat one another with respect and kindness in the process.

Enthusiasm

We are enthusiastic about learning the Engineering design process and building a robot. Through all the difficulties we have grown together as a strong team, respecting each other's opinions, with a vision to continue learning and improving.

Perseverance

Perseverance is the key to success in any aspect of life. We learned to expect and embrace challenges as we made multiple design errors and corrected them along the way. All of our team members worked diligently to design and build a versatile and efficient robot.
